Mr. Akshay Kumar recently appeared on screen endorsing a brand Vimal Elaichi (which happens to be a producer of tobacco products as well).
It became a clear case of surrogate advertisement.
After a backlash from his fans over internet, he did come up with an apology statement. Which is appreciable of him.
But is it enough to eradicate the damage his endorsement made or rather will make (as the ad is still on air)?
The reach of his ads is going to be 1000 times more than his apologetic statement.
The money he took, he may use it for a social cause, but then it is like being a ‘supari killer’ doing social work with the money he earns by killing people.
Does that make the ‘supari killer’ a good person?
Isn’t his public apology is actually a strategic decision to improve his public image? To save it from receiving hammerings due to his Vimal endorsement recently.
If he really felt apologetic, he should have returned the endorsement money and done philanthropy of his own good money out of repentance.
But he didn’t!
Or he should have made an apologetic video against it and should air it on all the platforms where and as long as his Vimal ad will play.
But he didn’t even bother to take out time to make a video to apologise.
